WRitten for clarification on training options: I am excited about working with you to support your learning however you feel might work best. Under separate attachment find summary of the correspondence materials available and curriculum list by hours training in class format. You will see also in the internship detail when you order your materials, the practice proficiency requirements for completion of each unit. YOu may accomplish these in several ways: Each unit has a test and "homework" which doubles as practice proficiency experience. You will coordinate with your internship preceptor for timely student consultations around what your client is experiencing and says relevant to their care and assessment form, how they are doing, what you are telling/would say to your client, and we tweak it based upon AyurDoula experience. We work on the phone from a distance if we are not in the same area - or can do more hours together with practicals if you like together in ABQ. These hours will be structured depending on 1) your desire and availability for what combination of home study, intensive learning, and skills training. IE, Some students cannot be present in person, or choose more home study and practice with basic hours of the skills training only when available, and/or may not be concerned about NAMA recognizeable hours. and 2) type of certification desired. NAMA recognizeable hours means directly precepted or in class hours, not the correspondence portion of your study. If you wish to do correspondence plus some hands on with clients, NAMA won't recognize the correspondence part of the study. However the phone internship plus live practicals under supervision they will and we may add your hours into a NAMA recognizable equivalent to the intensive program taught at RMIYA for the AyurDoula certification if that works better for you. IN either case, a certificate as postpartum ayurvedic doula or AyurDoula is available. Your hours study with AI, RMIYA or other Ayurvedic school will of course transfer to fulfill prerequisites. I am excited about the possibility of maybe working together with you and the others who have spoken to me about it, on a local model for really not only serving some women to reduce the high incidence of postpartum depression in New Mexico populations, but establishing a body of data for researchers. And involveing the local community in a heartfelt project that simultaneously begins to educate them in ayurvedic lifestyle and needs of the postpartum mothers. Warm Regards, Ysha Oakes, Senior AyurDoula Preceptor 505.259.1801 cell
